Charity of the Year

Each year we support a different charity

Charity of the Year

Over the last few years, Lake District Hotels have raised just over £58,000 for the charities we have supported.
Each year we select a charity or community project close to our hearts and run a variety of fundraising activities throughout the year to support them.

Lake District Hotels’ have selected Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children’s Hospice as our charity of the year. This local, Cumbrian charity provides much needed support to families, with personalised one-to-one care to local children and young adults living with life limiting illnesses. The hospice allows the families of the children respite support and offers a home from home setting which is filled with laughter, joy and an abundance of fun activities to all who attend.

It costs £2,126.46 to pay for all of Jigsaw's care services for just one day and it is through the generous donations of the local community that the hospice continues to offer a high quality of service to those who need it the most.

Through various fundraising activities throughout the next 12 months, Lake District Hotels aim to raise upwards of £5,000.

If you would like to support our fundraising efforts for this incredible charity, you can do so at our JustGiving page, where all your money will go direct to Jigsaw.

Charities & community projects we have previously supported

Keswick Scouts

We raised over £9,000 to help with the refurbishment of Ashness Hut. Originally a chicken shed, Ashness Hut was donated to Keswick Scouts, along with the land which it sits just over 70 years ago, with the aim to provide a cost effective place to stay for former evacuees and other under privileged post war children.

Keswick School

We raised £30,141 for Keswick School to redevelop their food technology room to be a TV style Bake-off kitchen, making it more effective and engaging for the students, with the aim to encourage them to consider a career in hospitality and to eat healthier, live longer and live stronger.

Blood Bikes Cumbria

We raised £11,426.27 for Blood Bikes Cumbria, who provide out-of-hours transport, 365 days of the year to transfer blood, drugs and other medical requirements between hospitals and blood transfusion banks.

Amy's Care

A total of £8,276.63 was raised for Amy’s Care, a family run Community Interest Company which provides social clubs for older adults, day care specialising in dementia and dementia holidays.
